The State of HL: Changes are coming to H.E.R. Legacy

H.E.R. Legacy celebrated its fourth year this past December and the industry has changed. There is more opportunity for autonomy across various book platforms, especially KDP. It’s our goal to help our community understand and gain resources as a guide through all the new and growing opportunities to reach a wider audience.

Author Aujalaya H presents her 2024 poetry collection 1221.

So, what’s change in the industry?

Since 2020, the self-publishing industry has transformed significantly due to technological advancements and changing consumer behavior. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated digital platform adoption, boosting e-books and audiobooks through services like Kindle Direct Publishing and Audible. Social media has empowered authors to engage with audiences and build personal brands, making marketing more dynamic. Print-on-demand technology has reduced costs, allowing for diverse genres and niche markets. Additionally, self-publishing is increasingly accepted by traditional publishing, leading to hybrid models that offer greater opportunities for recognition and distribution.

And what does this mean for H.E.R. Legacy?

These changes have spurred new service models and resources for our audience; you to be exact. We’ve taken time to exam what are our more popular service options and what are on-demand tools that could benefit any creative writer, content creator or business owner. Here is a snapshot of what’s coming to HL.

  • On-Demand KDP Publishing Series: A step-by-step series focused on how to transfer your manuscript to the KDP platform for printing or digital release.

  • Downloadable 30 Days of Creative Writing Workbook: Use this workbook to help drive ideas for an upcoming project or to work through writers block.

  • Virtual Writer Meet-ups: Digital is in and accountability can be key in reaching your goals. These sessions will be use to talk through obstacles and create side groups to help with peer reviews and questions.

  • Quarterly In-person Writers Meet Up: Come ready to work and share your current project. Themes will be added to help address current and future creative writing needs.

  • Audiobook Support: Currently, we are seeking narrators and producers to support transitioning print/digital books to audio.

H.E.R. Legacy is here to support your creative writing goals and needs. We are so excited to launch these services and resources for you soon. Stay tuned!
